Machu Picchu

The ruins of Machu Picchu, rediscovered in 1911, by Yale archaeologist Hiram Bingham, are one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the world. While the Inca people certainly used the Andean mountain top erecting many hundreds of stone structures, from the early 1400’s, legends and myths indicate that Machu Picchu (meaning ‘Old Peak’ in the Quechua language) was revered as a sacred place from a far earlier time.

Machu Picchu seems to have been utilized by the Inca as a secret ceremonial city.

Let the adventure begin!

Some people say that the best way to rediscover your true self and freedom is to travel as much and as widely as you can. Why is this? What happens when we move that makes us feel more free and happier?

It has to do with the unknown! When we go, especially in countries with the culture very different from the culture we were brought up and see new places and faces, when everything is brand new, the mind stops. Nothing is the way we are used to be, so the mind can not follow its usual patterns and habitual behavior.

This adventure is a spiritual one as much as an external one! The essence of this trip is for you to overcome any fear that you might have at any level, spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual, to gain back your power and finally set yourself free!

In the midst of coming back home to yourself, have fun and meet new friends!

The Trip will be guided by Spiritual Teacher, Shaman & Healer Northern Deer Alexander, founder of the WORLD OF WISDOM & SPIRITUAL ADVENTURE COMMUNITY.

He will help each of you to receive the maximum benefit, from this experience, and awaken your true essence.

The trip will include practices for the awakening of the inherent part of ourselves which is the true being that we are!

In the afternoon/early evening, you can take time to explore the district of Miraflores on foot which is very safe even at night. There are many cafes, restaurants, and bars to explore. There are also pharmacies, banks and money exchange shops all nearby if you need them.

Dinner on the first night is not included but a group meal at a recommended restaurant can be arranged by Matt.

Overnight: Hotel Carmel, Miraflores

Day 2: Friday, 25th of May

Transfer to airport and Fly Lima to Cusco and acclimate.

We aim to get you on the 8 am flight so your wake-up time shall be early but ensuring you are also in Cusco in good time to maximise on your acclimation period.

At around 9.30am your flight should land and subsequently, you will be met at the Cusco airport by the local crew and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon we can offer an optional city tour on foot depending on how people feel. Cusco was the capital of the Inka empire and steeped in history.

There are many museums, churches, and local markets to visit at your own leisure or alternatively on the next full day if not feeling up to the task upon arrival day.We suggest you keep hydrated, do only minimal walking, and to try the coca-tea.If symptoms persist or worsen we can recommend Soroche tablets available in pharmacies all around and 24-hours clinics in Urubamba (10 minutes from the hotel) with English speaking doctors if absolutely necessary.

Trek brief in the hotel reception at 6 pm: We would like to arrange you a meeting with the guide to discuss full details of the trek.

Overnight: Hotel Garcilaso with breakfast.

Day 3: Saturday, 26th of May

Time for you to explore the Inka Capital and charming historical center, catch up on some washing, do a local tour or check out several of the museums on offer.

Day 4: Sunday, 27th of May

Start of the Qolloriti Pilgrimage.

This will be the first of three exciting days to the mountain region of Ausangate (where the main activities are based)Our first day we travel from Cusco for approximately 3 and a half hours to get to the start of the trail or pilgrimage route at the town of Mahauanay 4600m.
From there we transfer on foot and go with our horseman and local guide and cook for an 8 kilometers pilgrimage.
It should take around 4 or 5 hours with plenty of stops so we will most likely offer a box-lunch to have on the way.

Once arriving at our campsite the guide will go through the activities for the next day and give you an introduction on this once a year festival that takes

place in the mountain and valley of Sinakara. Our camp for two nights will be at around 5000m so expect it to be very cold and facilities are basic there. Temperatures may well drop to around -5°C/-10°C so very warm clothes and excellent sleeping bags are essential!

Please check out this video of the event

At the market, you can purchase toy miniatures, e.g., houses, money, cars. People buy as a sign of hope and prosperity for their future. They can place the items in small land-lots and then pay for their wishes to be granted.

There will be Mass held on several occasions, for example, 10 am then 12 then 6 pm. People are welcome to attend just to watch what is going on from the outside, but only the guests and dance groups will be allowed into the Mass at the sanctuary there will be lots of other activities and dance held throughout the day and also a special fireworks show on this evening of the primary day.

Overnight camping. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 6: Tuesday, 29th of May
